UPA Festival Presentations

As we have progressed on the UPA documentary and Toon In podcast, our team has become the defacto experts on UPA, and as a result, we’ve been invited to several international animation festivals, to present UPA programs, most notably, Ottawa, Zagreb, Comic-Con, and Anima Mundi in Rio de Janeiro.  The next festival scheduled is Cinanima, this November, in Espinho, Portugal, just up the coast from Lisbon.  Last year’s festival logo is on the right. And, there are other festivals beginning talks with us about next year.

Like the documentary and podcast projects, we are beginning to need help, as the work increases, and, like those two projects, we are looking for talented and committed animation oriented people to help in a number of positions, which are listed below.  However, unlike those other two projects, festivals pay zippo, so we are not able to pay salaries, let alone big salaries, from non-existing income, so anyone interested would have to be willing to work on spec, or pure volunteer, for now.

However, although festivals don’t pay anything, they are an important part of our total program, so we will be paying people, eventually, out of sponsorships for the podcast, and funding for the documentary.  We expect to be getting funds for the documentary and/or sponsors for the podcast sooner rather than later, but we are unable to guarantee anything, except film credit on the documentary, and the chance to be the first hired when, and if, funds finally do arrive.

So, with that in mind, if you’re still interested, here are the areas in which we are looking for a few good folks, listed in the rough order of their importance …

1. Scheduling, Organizing and Maintaining Contact Lists
2. Editing & Organizing on Festival Presentation
3. Camera for host and visuals for Presentation
4. Researching Upa History, Artists, Films
5. Organizing Papers, Films & Images
